(ASD).

Autism spectrum disorder is a condition that affects social interaction and communication.

People with ASD may avoid making eye contact, struggle to start conversations or find it hard to understand other people's emotions.

All autistic people share certain difficulties, but being autistic will affect them in different ways.

Some autistic people also have learning disabilities, mental health issues or other conditions, meaning they need different levels of support.

ASD is sometimes known as autistic spectrum disorder.
