The Panama Papers are a large number of leaked confidential documents relating to offshore tax avoidance structures and participating individuals and corporations.


The former UK body which, amongst its duties, was the regulatory authority in the UK for most financial services markets, exchanges and firms.
The Panama Papers were publicised by the ''Süddeutsche Zeitung'' in Germany in 2016.


The FSA's former responsibilities have now been divided and transferred to:


1. The Financial Conduct Authority; and
The documents were leaked from a law firm and corporate services provider headquartered in Panama.


2. The Prudential Regulation Authority.


Some of the FSA's functions were comparable with the CFTC in the United States.
