Abbreviation for the Dodd-Frank Act.


A UK tax designed to deter and correct for corporate tax avoidance.
In full, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010.  


The DPT applies to large multinational enterprises with business activities in the UK who enter into ‘contrived’ arrangements to divert profits from the UK by avoiding a UK taxable permanent establishment and/or by other ‘contrived’ arrangements between connected entities.
The main aims of Dodd-Frank are to:


# Promote the financial stability of the United States by improving accountability and transparency in the financial system;
# End "too big to fail";
# Protect US taxpayers by ending bailouts; and
# Protect consumers from abusive financial services practices.
