Basel II was implemented across the European Union (EU) in 2008.
The World Forum on Natural Capital's aims include supporting organisations to understand:


* The financial implications of poor management of natural capital.


(Basel II is occasionally written as ''Basel 2''.)
* How better management of natural capital can help create competitive advantage.




Basel II was updated with effect from the end of 2011, in respect of the capital requirements for market risk and re-securitisations.
