Why we don't bespoke our system
"We are keen to make sure we don’t bespoke the system, so that we can easily adopt new system capabilities as they become available and ensure the system is future-proofed in that sense."
The Treasurer, November 2021 - Issue 4, 2021, p22 - Alexandra Lewis, Group Treasurer, National Grid.

3. Origins - clothing.

Bespoke clothing is made - or tailored - to the order of individual customers.

By analogy, the term bespoke was then extended to other goods and services provided on a similar basis.
