Assets which are held by an entity to be used in its operations.

They are held for longer periods than current assets, being used by the entity for a number of years.

The IAIS aims to:


Tangible fixed assets are often reported as 'property, plant and equipment' (PPE).
*Promote effective and globally consistent supervision of the insurance industry in order to develop and maintain fair, safe and stable insurance markets for the benefit and protection of policyholders; and
*Contribute to global financial stability.


Collectively, tangible and intangible long-term assets are known as 'non-current assets'.


The IAIS is hosted by the Bank for International Settlements.


Relevant accounting standards include Section 17 and Section 27 of FRS 102.

International Association of Insurance Supervisors.

The IAIS is an international body representing insurance regulators and supervisors [[1]].

The IAIS aims to:

  • Promote effective and globally consistent supervision of the insurance industry in order to develop and maintain fair, safe and stable insurance markets for the benefit and protection of policyholders; and
  • Contribute to global financial stability.


The IAIS is hosted by the Bank for International Settlements.
