Covered bonds are debt instruments secured by a 'cover pool' of mortgage loans (collateral) or public-sector debt to which investors in the covered bonds have a preferential claim, in the event of default.  


A former independent UK public body which conducts inquiries into mergers, markets, trade practices and the regulation of the major regulated industries under competition law. 


The Competition Commission was merged with certain functions of the Office of Fair Trading to form the Competition and Markets Authority.
