For example EUR 100 billion = EUR 100,000,000,000.
The European Parliamentary Committee responsible for the economic and monetary policies of the Union, the functioning of Economic and Monetary Union and the European monetary and financial system.
Often abbreviated to 'bn' or 'Bn'.  For example EUR 100bn.

It also has responsibility for taxation and competition policies, free movement of capital and the regulation of financial services within the EU.  
Historically in the UK and some other countries, 'billion' used to refer mathematically to 1,000,000,000,000 (or 10<sup>12</sup>).
 
This historical usage never became well-established in finance, and is now - for practical purposes - defunct.
