Plant material used to derive biofuel from - for example by fermentation - or used directly as a fuel itself.


2. Environmental concerns - carbon sequestration.

Plant material that stores sequestered carbon, reducing the quantity of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.


3. Environmental concerns - ecosystems.

The total mass of living organisms - usually measured in tonnes - in a given environment.

Biomass can be measured for individual species, or in total.
