The minimum ratio of cash reserves to deposits that the central bank requires commercial banks to hold.  


GWP is a relative measure of the amount by which a greenhouse gas emission would warm the earth.
An increase in reserve requirements will lower the supply of money in the economy as banks undertake less lending.
 
The reference is carbon dioxide, CO<sub>2</sub>.
 
By definition, the GWP of carbon dioxide is 1.
 
 
Using this measure, the GWPs of other greenhouse gases are quantified on this scale.
