The UK's Office for Budget Responsibility was established in 2010 with the objectives of providing independent and authoritative analysis of the UK’s public finances.
With effect from 2022, the OEP undertakes the following work in England:


It is one of a growing number of official independent fiscal watchdogs around the world.
*Review and report on government’s progress in meeting environmental goals and targets.
*Monitor and report on the implementation of environmental law.
*Advise government on proposed changes to the law and other environmental matters.
*Investigate suspected failures to comply with environmental law by government and other public bodies and enforce compliance where needed.
