In the context of credit and debit cards, a merchant is a business that sells goods and services via cards, whether online or physically presented.
2. Goods - trade.
An organisation or an individual buying and selling physical goods with a view to profit.
Especially - but not necessarily - in wholesale quantities, and internationally.
