The discontinued UK scheme for the use of private investment to fund public infrastructure projects.


It was superseded by Private Finance 2, now also discontinued.


PF2 reaffirmed the UK government’s commitment to private sector involvement in infrastructure and services, while recognising changes to the economic context.


PF2 was discontinued for new projects in 2018.
