An inquiry commissioned by the UK government in 2001 into the circumstances leading to the financial difficulties encountered by the Equitable Life Assurance Company.


A strengthened Capital Requirements Directive, the bulk of which took effect from early 2014.
Lord Penrose undertook the inquiry and his report was published in 2004.
