Politically Exposed Person.
An aspect of 'known your customer' principles, requiring financial intermediaries and others engaged in financial transactions to rigorously check their customers’ identities.
An example of a 'politically exposed person' would be a government official, particularly one from a more corrupt jurisdiction.
