SWIFT.
An MT940 (or MT 940) is a standard structured SWIFT message.
It is a end of day bank statement file which details all entries booked to bank account.
MT940 - and all other MT messages - are in the course of being phased out over the period ending November 2025, and being replaced by improved message formats under ISO 20022.
