Nationally Recognised Statistical Rating Agency.
An NRSRO is a credit rating agency (CRA) in respect of the opinions of which the US Securities and Exchange Commission has issued a no-action letter relating to use of those opinions by regulated bodies for various regulatory purposes.
The US was a pioneer of recognising particular CRAs.
