The UK government Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy is responsible for:
- business
- industrial strategy
- science, research and innovation
- energy and clean growth and
- climate change
Its priorities from 2019 to 2020 are to:
- deliver an ambitious industrial strategy
- maximise investment opportunities and bolster UK interests as the UK leaves the EU
- promote competitive markets and responsible business practices
- ensure the UK has a reliable, low cost and clean energy system and
- build a flexible, innovative, collaborative and business-facing department
The BEIS was formed in 2016 by the merger of the formerly separate:
- (i) Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) and
- (ii) Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
