The factors of a number are numbers which, when multiplied together, produce the original number.
For example, the factors of 3 are 1 and 3:
1 x 3 = 3.
Taking another example, the factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12:
1 x 12 = 12;
2 x 6 = 12; and
3 x 4 = 12.
