Carbon footprint

Environmental policy.

A measure of the amount of greenhouse gas emissions caused directly or indirectly by an organisation, activity or product.

It is normally measured in tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂) equivalent.

Greenhouse gases include:

• Carbon dioxide (CO₂)
• Methane (CH₄)
• Nitrous oxide (N₂O)
• Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)
• Perfluorocarbons (PFCs)
• Sulphur hexafluoride (SF₆)

Often abbreviated to 'carbon', derived from the carbon dioxide measure.
