The fourth industrial revolution is characterised by the fusing of the physical, digital and biological worlds, through innovations including artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.

The concept was popularised by Professor Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, and author of The Fourth Industrial Revolution.


Also known as Industry 4.0.
