The former UK government Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, whose functions are now undertaken by the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT).


The BEIS was itself formed in 2016 by the merger of the formerly separate:

(i) Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) and
(ii) Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
