The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision is a forum for cooperation between bank supervisors established in 1974 by the G10 and hosted by the Bank for International Settlements in Basel.

The Committee is the primary global standard-setter for the prudential regulation of banks. It seeks to strengthen the regulation, supervision and practices of banks to support financial stability.
