Pensions. The Benefits Agency was formerly the main administrative body within the UK Department for Work and Pensions, responsible for ascertaining the entitlement of individuals to State pension benefits and for making such pension benefit payments.

The Benefits Agency subsequently merged with the Employment Service to form Jobcentre Plus which deals with social benefits and job search facilities.

Responsibilities for pensions were transferred to the Pension Service which is part of the Pension, Disability and Careers Service, an executive agency of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
