1.

Purchase of securities to replace those that have not been returned by a borrower.

2.

Purchase of shares in a company by managers who are not employed by it.

3.

The buying back by a company of its own shares.

4.

More generally, an agreement to support a decision.

Such agreements are frequently informal in nature, and in many situations 'buy-in' is expressed by actions consistent with buy-in, rather than being written or spoken expressly.
