COPD is an abbreviation for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

COPD is characterised by chronic obstruction of lung airflow, interfering with normal breathing. It includes the conditions formerly known as chronic bronchitis and emphysema.


People with COPD are at substantially increased risk of the most severe effects of COVID-19.
