Legal systems - jurisdictions - United Kingdom.

English law generally refers to the legal system that applies in England and Wales.

Within the United Kingdom, the two other main legal jurisdictions are Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Many laws apply equally - or very similarly - in all three of these main jurisdictions.

Depending on the area of law, there are some differences between the laws applying to England to Wales, in addition to the differences from the laws in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Tax is one example where there are a greater number of differences.
