The International Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1919 to promote international trade and established in Paris in 1920.

It is widely known for:

  • Publishing the set of rules known as the Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP) which has become a universal market practice for documentary credits; and
  • The ICC International Court of Arbitration - that is not itself a court or an arbitrator, but that facilitates the appointment of arbitrators and the process of arbitration between parties to disputes related to international trade that have agreed to follow its processes.
