For the purposes of MiFID a regulated market is defined as:

  1. A multilateral system
  2. Which brings together or facilitates the bringing together of multiple third-party buying and selling interests in financial instruments
  3. In a way that results in a contract.


Examples of regulated markets include the traditional stock exchanges such as the Frankfurt and London Stock Exchanges.
