Sustainability - environmental concerns - social concerns.

(EIA).

A formal process to analyse the social, economic, environmental and other impact of a proposed development project.

Historically, EIAs focused on potentially adverse environmental impacts.

The EIA process either leads to the licensing of the proposed project, or amendments to it.

More recently, the scope of EIAs has been extending to consider broader sustainability issues.
