TARP is an abbreviation for Troubled Assets Relief Program, under which funds were invested by the US Treasury.
It was established to help stabilise the US financial system, restart economic growth, and prevent avoidable bankruptcies in the aftermath of the GFC.
TARP invested over $400bn in the period 2008-2010.
