Passive investment funds follow a predetermined formula.

For tax purposes, passive income is investment income (rather than wages, salary, or business profits).

4. Marketing - net promoter scoring.

In net promoter scoring, "passive" means a customer that is relatively indifferent about a particular product or service.

They are neither a promoter, nor a detractor, in relation to it.
