CNY is the ISO currency code for China's currency, the Yuan Renminbi, when it is traded onshore.

'CN' refers to China.

'Y' refers to Yuan.

The abbreviation 'RNB' is also widely used for the Chinese Yuan Renminbi, meaning exactly the same as CNY.

However, RNB is not the ISO code.
