In relation to monetary policy, 'dovish' monetary policies aim to stimulate economic growth, and are associated with relatively lower interest rates.

Contrasted with more 'hawkish' approaches.

More broadly, 'dovish' policies are generally more conciliatory and peaceful, contrasted with 'hawkish' ones.

The term derives from the behaviour of doves, compared with hawks.
