(RAM).

A responsibility assignment matrix is a model that identifies four key individuals or groups in relation to every project task or deliverable:

  • Responsible person - or people - who complete the task.
  • Accountable person who co-ordinates and delegates the task, and formally approves the completed task.
  • Consulted person - or people - who need to be actively involved and in agreement before the task can be done.
  • Informed people who must be updated on progress and decisions, but do not need to give consent in advance.

From the first letters of Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed, responsibility assignment matrices are sometimes known as RACI matrices.
