Artificial intelligence - information technology - cyber security - risk management.

The technological singularity is a hypothesis about advances in artificial intelligence, artificial super-intelligence, and their consequences.

In this situation, super-intelligent and self-aware machines would start to self-improve and evolve spontaneously, leading to sudden and unpredictable technological growth.

The concern is that these developments would be beyond human control, and - in the most extreme scenarios - result in the end of the human era.

Technological singularity is often abbreviated to "singularity".

The term singularity derives from mathematics and physics, where it refers to points where results are undefined, or not predictable.
