European Union (EU).
The EU's seven institutions are identified in the Treaty on the European Union as the:
- European Parliament
- European Council
- Council of the European Union
- European Commission
- Court of Justice of the European Union
- European Central Bank
- Court of Auditors
A number of other important EU bodies are established as decentralised agencies and authorities, rather than as EU institutions.
These include the European Banking Authority (EBA) and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).
