The collective name for the 19 countries adopting European Monetary Union (EMU) in full.
Sometimes written 'Euro zone', 'eurozone' or 'Euro-zone'.


Ethical behaviour is a mind-set and underpins all business activity. Treasury professionals need to appreciate why ethics matter, to act ethically at all times and to lead by example.
More formally known as the 'euro area' and more informally as 'euroland'.  


==Compliance and audit==


Treasury’s activities need to be clearly defined, executed and monitored and this includes the independent review provided by regular audits. Policies and procedures need to be integrated into the organisation’s risk management approach. Reporting must be provided for all stakeholders (both internal and external).
The 19 countries in the euro area are:
 
Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain.
 
 
The nine European Union (EU) countries which are not in the euro area are:
 
Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Sweden and the United Kingdom (UK).

A referendum in the UK in June 2016 resulted in a vote for the UK to begin the process of leaving the EU.
