Gross domestic product - alternative measures - New Economics Foundation.

(HPI).

The Happy Planet Index measures wellbeing, eco footprint and life expectancy by country, to produce a Happy Planet Index score - by country - over time.

The Happy Planet Index score is designed to address some of the shortcomings of more narrowly defined financial measures of national wellbeing, like gross domestic product (GDP).

The Happy Planet Index was launched in 2006 by the New Economics Foundation (NEF).

It is calculated and published by the Hot or Cool Institute.
