1. Information technology (IT) - applications.

The front end of an IT system or application means the parts of it not accessed by end-users or customers, and directly visible to them.

Contrasted with the back end.


2. Contracts - projects - time.

The front end of a contract or project means things relating to the earliest stages of it, including before it starts, rather than the end or middle of it.
