1. Investment - securities - fixed income.

An investment strategy of buying securities with the intention of holding them until their final maturity.

For fixed rate bonds, this generally results in a known investment yield from the outset, assuming no default by the issuer.


2. Other investments.

More broadly, any investment strategy that anticipates holding the investments for the long term.
