Facilitated carbon emissions are indirect emissions from financial institutions, that result from activities including underwriting, securitisation and advisory services.
In this context, facilitated emissions are distinguished from "financed emissions" which banks and investors finance directly through their loans and investments.
"Facilitated emissions disclosures for investment banking and brokerage activities are not [yet] explicitly required because the methodology is not yet sufficiently mature."
