Broader poverty measures - education & infrastructure - World Bank.

(MPM).

The Multidimensional Poverty Measure is designed to factor in the complexity and persistence of poverty, in addition to the monetary threshold of $1.90.

It takes account of deprivation in education and access to basic infrastructure, in addition to the $1.90 threshold.

The indicators factored in are:

  • Consumption or income
  • Educational attainment
  • Educational enrolment
  • Drinking water
  • Sanitation
  • Electricity

This greatly increases the number of people viewed as poor.
