Retail investor protection - UK - Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) - UK Consumer Composite Investments (Designated Activities) Regulations 2024.

(CCIs).

For the purposes of the UK Consumer Composite Investments (Designated Activities) Regulations 2024, Consumer Composite Investments are defined very broadly as:

(a) an investment, or
(b) a contract of insurance, or
(c) any right to - or interest in - any investment or contract of insurance...

... where the value or amount payable to the investor is subject to fluctuations because of exposure to reference values or to the performance of one or more assets which are not directly purchased by the investor.

However, there are also a number of important exceptions to this broad definition, including life assurance, personal incapacity insurance, central government bonds, pension plans and others.
